(VOVWORLD) - The Palestinian Authority temporarily halted operations of Qatar’s Al Jazeera television in the territory from January 1st, saying the network violated Palestine’s law.

The official Wafa news agency said that the specialised ministerial committee, comprising the ministries of culture, interior and communications, has decided to suspend broadcasts and freeze all activities of Al Jazeera channels and its office in Palestine.
The work of all journalists, employees, crews and affiliated channels will also be temporarily suspended until their legal status is rectified.
The Palestinian Authority criticized Al Jazeera of broadcasting inciting content and misinformation, incitement, sedition and interference in Palestinian internal affairs.
