ASEAN Cup semifinals: Vietnam beat Singapore in away match
(VOVWORLD) -Striker Tien Linh and naturalized striker of Brazilian origin Nguyen Xuan Son scored in the extra minutes of the second half, helping Vietnam national football team win 2-0 over Singapore in the first leg of the AFF Cup 2024 semifinals, which took place at Jalan Besar Stadium of Singapore on Thursday evening.

The two goals of team Vietnam were scored only three minutes apart. In the 90+11 minute Tien Linh was successful with his penalty kick after the referee determined that a Singapore player used his hand to block the ball in the penalty area. Just minute later, Xuan Son took turns scoring in extra time to bring the final 2-0 victory to Vietnam.
With a 2-goal advantage after the first leg, the door to the final match of the ASEAN Cup is wide open for Vietnam when coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will host Singapore in the second leg at 8 pm on Sunday at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho province.
