(VOVWORLD) -Ensuring national sovereignty in cyberspace, protecting cybersecurity and data security is an urgent, continuous, and crucial requirement, inseparable from the national socio-economic development process, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Saturday.

Prime Minister Chinh, who is also Head of the National Cybersecurity Steering Committee, chaired the first meeting of the Steering Committee in 2026, where he emphasized that the global and regional dynamics and complexity are requiring new mindset, especially regarding cybersecurity, to deal with attacks, fraud, suspicion, political instability, and disruption of social order and safety.
Prime Minister Chinh clarified the objectives, which are to prevent, repel, and neutralize cyber security crimes; to firmly protect national sovereignty, interests and people's well-being; and to place cybersecurity work within the overall national security and development framework.

Assigning specific tasks to each ministry, sector, and locality, the Prime Minister urged for strengthening of organizational structures and coordination mechanisms to ensure smooth direction from the central to local levels in cybersecurity work. He underlined fine-tuning the institutional framework and policy mechanisms for cybersecurity and data security; researching and developing a strategy for protecting sovereignty in cyberspace in the new context; and implementing comprehensive and synchronized solutions for cybersecurity and data security.
PM Chinh emphasized the need to focus on training and developing human resources, and developing Vietnamese cybersecurity and data security products and services, while boosting international cooperation in cybersecurity, data security, and the implementation of the Hanoi Convention.
