PM Chinh engages in bilateral talks on sidelines of UNOC3

(VOVWORLD) - During a meeting Monday with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on the sidelines of the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged giving top priority to cooperation in railway development, and said he is determined to start construction of the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway line this year.

Mr. Chinh requested China’s support in concessional financing, technology transfer, and human resources training in that area. Vice President Han said China is ready to work closely with Vietnam to implement the common perceptions of the top leaders of their two Parties and countries. He highlighted the importance of increasing high-level strategic exchanges, consolidating political trust, and advancing practical cooperation to deliver tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations.

While meeting on Monday with Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis, PM Chinh proposed closer cooperation in agriculture, food security, and maritime fleet development, and the signing of agreements to facilitate the exchange of delegations and visa waivers for citizens of both countries. He called on Greece to support the European Parliament’s early ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement and to lobby for the European Commission’s removal of its “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood.

The two leaders said economy, trade, and investment are pillars of the Vietnam-Spain Strategic Partnership and agreed to raise bilateral trade to 8 billion USD in the near future.

He said Vietnam is ready to serve as a bridge to help the EU deepen its relationship with South East Asia.
