In a meeting with Parliament President Lauri Hussar during his official visit to Estonia, PM Chinh also called on the Estonian legislature to support the formation of a joint committee for economic, scientific, technological, and innovation cooperation.

Mr. Chinh said he hopes Estonia will encourage other European Union members to quickly ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

Estonia is a model of innovation, e-government, digital economy, digital society, and digital citizenship from which Vietnam wishes to learn, he said, adding that Vietnam will create favorable conditions for Estonian investors.

Speaker Hussar said Vietnam is one of Estonia’s most important partners in Southeast Asia, and the relationship between the two countries could serve as a bridge to further strengthen EU-ASEAN ties.

The two sides affirmed the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea (known internationally as the South China Sea). They stressed the need to respect the interests of coastal states and resolve disputes peacefully in accordance with international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
