(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh underscored the role of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement in Asia-Pacific development, the clear benefits that the deal brings in regional trade, investment and supply chains, which he said are laying a foundation for member countries to improve competitiveness.

As part of the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Prime Minister Chinh and leaders of other ASEAN countries and partners (Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and China) attended the 5th RCEP Summit chaired by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
In his address, the Prime Minister reiterated Vietnam’s supports, serious and full implementation of the commitments of RCEP, and proactive coordination with members to expand and improve the quality of RCEP cooperation.

The Summit adopted the Leaders' Joint Statement on the RCEP Agreement, which affirmed the countries' support for ASEAN's centrality and commitment to promoting open, inclusive, mutually beneficial and future-oriented regional economic integration.
