At a meeting in Hanoi on Wednesday with Bounnhang Vorachith, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, President Quang applauded the close collaboration between the two countries in organizing the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017. He described the event as an important milestone in the bilateral relations.

He called on both sides to continue close partnership to improve existing cooperation mechanisms, further cooperation in security and defence, and promptly address difficulties to ensure the efficiency of bilateral economic and trade ties. President Quang suggested that Vietnam and Laos continue to exchange information and work closely with each other at global and regional forums, contributing to peace, security, stability, cooperation, and development.

The Lao leader spoke highly of the strong relationship with Vietnam and informed
President Quang of the activities held in Laos within the friendship year to mark 40 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties. He reiterated Laos’ efforts to nurture and develop the traditional friendship and special solidarity with Vietnam.
