President Truong Tan Sang attends APEC 20

(VOVworld)- President Truong Tan Sang has stressed that Vietnam and Russia should promote cooperation in various areas including in the Far Eastern region. At a meeting with Minister for the Development of Russian Far East Vicktor Ishayev during the APEC summit, President Sang proposed opening direct flights between Vietnam and the Far East to facilitate trade exchanges. President Sang said, in addition to cooperation in oil and gas exploitation, Vietnam wanted to directly invest in or set up joint ventures in wood, agro forestry and seafood processing. He said Vietnam welcomed Russian as well as Far Eastern businesses to invest in the country. The Minister for the Development of Russian Far East Vicktor Ishayev praised Vietnam’s investment interest in the region saying that Russia is looking for opportunities to expand cooperation in the Asia Pacific region. He agreed on the need to open direct flights between Vietnam and Vladivostok and introduced the region’s potential in gas exports, wood and aquaculture processing. At a meeting with the Governor of Primorie Vladimir Miklushevsky, President Sang said the expansion of cooperation with Vietnam would contribute to Primorie’s development and enhancing the friendship between both countries.
