Quang Ninh, Laos’s Houaphanh strengthen multifaceted cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Leaders of Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province and Laos’s Houaphanh province have agreed to enhance cooperation, review results from the 2022-2026 period, and outline orientations for the next phase.

The consensus was reached during a meeting between visiting Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee and Head of the province’s National Assembly delegation Quan Minh Cuong, and Secretary of the Houaphanh Provincial Party Committee Phoudphanh Keovongxay.

Mr. Cuong proposed that both sides continue effectively implementing Quang Ninh’s scholarship program for students from three northern Lao provinces, including Houaphanh, while strengthening training and capacity building for officials.

He called for closer cooperation in trade and tourism, enhanced promotion, and more favorable conditions for businesses from both sides to explore investment and business opportunities.

In addition, Secretary Cuong urged intensified exchanges of experience, joint development of tourism products, and mutual promotion of tourism, while maintaining people-to-people exchanges and friendly ties between the two localities.

Secretary Keovongxay highly appreciated Quang Ninh’s support, particularly since 2011, totaling 3.1 million USD and more than 300 scholarships for Houaphanh students. He reaffirmed Houaphanh’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation, contributing to the special friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Laos.

On Monday, the Quang Ninh delegation attended a ceremony to hand over Phan Xam High School in Sam Neua Town, a gift from the authorities and people of Quang Ninh to Houaphanh province.
