(VOVWORLD) - The National Assembly Standing Committee has agreed on the importance of the National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control.

At a meeting on Sunday, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said, with the attention of the Party and the State, the Steering Committee for Drug Prevention and Control has taken drastic actions, achieving remarkable results.
National Assembly deputies have also carefully discussed the issue and agreed that the deployment of the National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control will meet voters' expectation.
Man emphasized the need to clarify the causes and propose long-term and resolute solutions to prevent drugs. He also requested to review and remove overlaps with other national target programs while deploying this program.
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh said the National Standing Committee basically agreed on the need of the program and the related draft resolution to submit the National Assembly for approval at the 8th session. She proposed the government continue to improve the Program and the draft Resolution before submitting them to the National Assembly for discussion.
