Russia proposes talks with Ukraine on G20 summit sidelines

(VOVWORLD) -Valentina Matviyenko, Head of the Federation Council of Russia (Senate), on Thursday proposed that the delegation of Ukraine sit down at the negotiating table on the sideline of the G20 summit in Indonesia in mid November.

Matviyenko stressed that Russia has repeatedly proposed talks on resolving the crisis in Ukraine, affirming that Russia supports negotiations, dialogue, as well as a peaceful political solution.

After the EU imposed of the 8th round of sanctions against Russia, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Moscow would review the legal aspects and develop an action plan. He warned that his country won’t sell oil to any countries that adopt the cap. 

Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded economic measures in response to Western sanctions on Thursday, which are expected to intensify. Putin said at a government meeting on economic issues via video link that the sanctions put pressure on Russia and that will only increase, so it is necessary to plan flexible, effective actions for both short and medium terms.
