(VOVWORLD) - The US said on Tuesday that it had separate agreements with Ukraine and Russia to ensure maritime safety in the Black Sea and prevent attacks on energy facilities.

According to a White House statement, in the separate meetings in Saudi Arabia, Russia and Ukraine agreed to secure shipping lanes, avoid the use of force, and prohibit the use of commercial vessels for military purposes.
Washington agreed to assist in restoring Russian agricultural and fertilizer exports to global markets and facilitate further peace negotiations.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that technical discussions took place in Riyadh, with reports submitted to both sides’ leadership, though negotiation details remain undisclosed.
On the same day, TASS news agency quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump had been briefed on the outcomes of Russia-US consultations held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The discussions primarily focused on ensuring maritime safety in the Black Sea.
