(VOVWORLD) - Russian President Vladimir Putin told US President Joe Biden in their first phone call Tuesday that he supports "normalisation" between Russia and the US, adding that normalisation would meet the interests of both countries and the entire international community.

The two leaders agreed to have their teams work on extending the New START arms control treaty between the United States and Russia when the current pact expires.
