President Putin warmly congratulated President To Lam on his election as Vietnam’s Party leader and wished him success in Party and State affairs, Russian media reported.

The two men affirmed their shared determination to cement the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam as well as bilateral cooperation in various fields.

They expressed satisfaction with the progress of implementing agreements reached after President Putin's official visit to Vietnam in June, as well as the coordination between the two countries in the international arena in the context of Russia assuming the role of Chairman of BRICS.

During the phone call, President Putin and General Secretary and President To Lam agreed to maintain personal contact in the future.
