Schools in border areas are places where locals entrust their dreams, says Party leader

(VOVWORLD) -Schools in border areas are not just ordinary construction projects, but places where locals entrust their hopes and dreams, Party General Secretary To Lam told the groundbreaking ceremony for primary and secondary boarding schools in land border communes held on Thursday simultaneously at 17 main locations and 104 online locations nationwide.

Speaking at the central location at Dong Dang Primary and Secondary Boarding School in Dong Dang commune, Lang Son province, General Secretary Lam said that the Politburo's decision to invest in the construction of 248 boarding schools in 248 land border communes is a correct policy with profound humanitarian significance. It demonstrates the special attention of the Party and State to the people in border, remote areas, and areas still facing numerous difficulties, he added.
The General Secretary requested that the projects be completed on schedule to serve the new school year 2027-2028, ensuring the highest quality and efficiency. He urged the aggressive involvement of local Party committees and authorities, considering this a crucial political task for their localities in this term. The education sector must build schools coupled with building a modern and comprehensive educational environment, said Party General Secretary To Lam.

“I request that the design, construction, consulting, and supervision units carry out their work with the highest sense of responsibility, considering this not just an ordinary construction project but a place where the people of the border region can entrust their hopes and dreams. Efforts should be made to guarantee the highest quality for the project, absolute safety in labor, technical standards, and aesthetics, worthy of being a model school in the border region and worthy of the trust and expectations of the people, the teachers, and the students,” according to the Party leader.

Attending the event from the central location in Lang Son, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that along with the 108 schools already under construction in 2025, the simultaneous commencement of 121 inter-level boarding schools in land border communes on Thursday brings the total to 229 schools. This will help in comprehensive educational development for students in 229 land border communes. The Ministry of Education and Training and local authorities will continue to review the needs and practical conditions to build more schools as set in the Politburo's guideline, aiming to expand projects to special zones and islands.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held on March 19 at 17 locations and 104 online locations nationwide in Cao Bang, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Hue, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, and An Giang.
The event marks a step towards realizing the Politburo's Conclusion No. 81 dated July 18, 2025, on investing in school construction for border communes, with the nationwide investment in 248 boarding schools for primary and secondary levels in 248 land border communes.
