Second Republican candidate runs for presidency

(VOVworld) – Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky officially declared himself a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination on Tuesday.

He said that he was running for president to return the US to the principles of liberty and limited government. He left his door open to a second term in the Senate.
Rand Paul, 52, has been serving as a Senator from Kentucky since 2011. He is the 2nd member of the Republican Party to declare his candidacy after Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
