South Korea will continue to build up its proprietary Kill Chain pre-emptive missile, its Korean Air and Missile Defense (KAMD) system, and military armaments for conventional warfare. The Kill Chain and the KAMD are designed to detect and preemptively destroy nuclear missiles in North Korea. The systems are scheduled to be functioned by the mid-2020s. Seoul plans to develop and secure its own "military power" in preparation for the transfer of wartime operational control from Washington, which is also scheduled for the mid-2020s.
