South Korea to resume peace efforts on the Korean Peninsula
(VOVWORLD) -Wi Sung-lac, director of the Office of National Security of the Republic of Korea, said Sunday that 2026 will be a year of major breakthroughs for South Korea in the fields of security and diplomacy.
He said Seoul will resume a dialogue with Pyongyang and promote peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Despite North Korea’s cold attitude, South Korea remains committed to its inter-Korean reconciliation policy and will continue its efforts to revive a dialogue between the two sides.
According to Wi Sung-lac, South Korea will engage in exchanges with North Korea and the US to foster mutual understanding and promote measures aimed at gradually building trust between the two Koreas. At the same time, Seoul will strengthen cooperation with neighboring countries to help address issues related to the Korean Peninsula.
