Southeastern economic region urged to invest more in education

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s southeastern economic region needs a post-graduate training center, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said at a conference on Tuesday in Binh Duong province on education and training development for the region until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Mr. Ha asked the region to implement the Politburo's Resolution on socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security until 2030 with a vision to 2045.  

He suggested that the Ministry of Education and Training and the southeastern region create policies to attract teachers and revive training to keep up with current development trends.

The Ministry was urged to mobilize external resources, attract high-quality educational resources, and increase joint ventures and associations.

The southeastern region comprises Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. It has 57 universities and 316 vocational training facilities.

Its percentage of university students ranks second nationally, after the Red River Delta.
