Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa will hold an informal consultation with Bangladesh, China, India, Laos, and Myanmar on Thursday, focusing on border security and transnational crimes, especially narcotic drugs and online scam networks.
On Friday, there will be a foreign minister-level meeting on Myanmar for interested members of ASEAN, the spokesman said.
Hosting the meetings reflects Thailand’s constructive role in fostering candid discussions between relevant countries on ways to promote closer cooperation to tackle issues of common concern or interest, he added.
On October 9th, ASEAN leaders agreed with Thailand’s proposal on organizing an informal consultation in Bangkok late this month to address Myanmar-related issues.
