Addressing the event, Mr. Lam lauded the General Department’s feats, outstanding achievements, and great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation over the past half century.

The top leader said the Department has taken the initiative to provide advice on technical work in the new situation, built technical agencies and army units at the strategic, campaign, and tactical level pursuant to a standardized and unified technical management mechanism.

The agencies and units under the Department’s management have been praised for promoting a spirit of initiative, creativity, and application of technology to improve, repair, upgrade, and extend the life cycle of weapons and equipment and carry out management and maintenance work.

General Secretary and President Lam urged the military engineering sector to lead scientific and technological innovation, closely coordinate with agencies and units inside and outside the Army to promote research and development of military science and technology in line with Vietnamese conditions, and be ready to receive technology transfers from foreign partners to create breakthroughs in military engineering that serve national industrialization.

He also requested improvement in developing military cadres and soldiers with steadfast political will, no fear of difficulties, and readiness to complete assigned tasks with excellence.
