According to Ambassador Dung, who is Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, the WTO, and other International Organizations in Geneva, the Resolution urges Vietnam to be proactive and improve the quality of its participation in multilateral mechanisms, so as to make practical contributions to peace and development and to serve the cause of national construction and defense.
Coordination between domestic and overseas representative offices, and between multilateral and bilateral channels, is a key factor in building strength and raising Vietnam's voice in the international arena, he added.
Vietnam’s achievements in multilateral diplomacy include gaining the international community's trust within UN security forums, serving twice as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and contributing to peacekeeping operations.
Vietnam has also assumed the Presidency of the 11th Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, been elected to the UN Human Rights Council for three terms, and committed to the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
All these demonstrate Vietnam’s strong commitment to international integration and cooperation. Each milestone of security politics, human rights, and economic development burnishes the image of a proactive, responsible Vietnam that remains steadfast in protecting its national interests while promoting the shared interests of the global community.
