At a high-level donors conference in Geneva, Guterres said Afghanis were suffering from one of the most terrible humanitarian crises in the world, even before the Taliban took over on August 15.
The same day, Qatar's foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani called for national reconciliation as a “safety valve” for Afghanistan. During talks with visiting French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian in Doha, Al-Thani said Qatar will support all efforts to achieve national reconciliation in Afghanistan.
