(VOVWORLD) - UN special rapporteur on human rights in Myanmar Tom Andrews on Tuesday called on Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to quickly stabilize the situation in Myanmar.

In an open letter to Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Andrews pointed out that at the conclusion of a meeting with ASEAN leaders in Jakarta, Mr. Hlaing agreed to an “immediate cessation of violence in Myanmar.”
He said this is an imperative first step toward ending a crisis that has already cost the lives of Myanmar people.
