(VOVworld) – The United Nations has positioned Vietnam as one of top performers among 40 developing countries in term of human development in recent decades. According to the 2013 Human Development Reports released Wednesday by the UN Development Program, the human development index in Vietnam has jumped by 41% over the past 2 decades.

UN Resident Coordinator Pratibha Mehta said that investment in human was vital for Vietnam to improve its competitiveness and fully benefit from international economic integration. However, she added, geographic gaps and the differences between regions might be barriers to Vietnam reaching higher human development targets.
