(VOVworld) – The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Monday approved a resolution to enhance its support for security reform in post-conflict countries.

The resolution said that reforming security in countries emerging from conflicts was vital to the consolidation of peace and stability, poverty reduction, ensuring laws and good governance, extending legitimate State authority, and preventing countries from relapsing into conflict. The UNSC encouraged UN members and its international partners to enhance their training and support to help rebuild national institutions. It also valued the UN police in co-coordinating international efforts in national police reforms.
