US issues fresh round of sanctions against Russia ahead of Trump’s return to White House
(VOVWORLD) - The US on Wednesday imposed hundreds of new sanctions targeting Russia, seeking to increase pressure on Moscow in the Biden administration's final days and protect some sanctions previously imposed.

The US Treasury Department said Washington is imposing fresh sanctions on 100 Russian entities – including Russian banks and companies operating in Russia's energy sector – that were previously sanctioned by the US.
The move will increase secondary sanctions for critical Russian entities and frustrate the Kremlin’s ability to circumvent Washington’s sanctions through foreign financial institutions.
The US Department of State is sanctioning 150 entities and individuals, including companies in Russia’s defense industry and companies supporting its military industrial base.
