US senator hopes for expanding ties with Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Republican Senator Steve Daines, from the US state of Montana, has sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) To Lam and the Vietnamese people ahead of the 14th National Congress of the CPV, expressing the wish to continue working with Vietnam.

In his letter, Daines highlighted his positive impression from his visit to Vietnam last March, adding that he appreciates his discussion with Party leader To Lam about bilateral relations and believes in enormous cooperation opportunities ahead.

He also shared information about the US Senate’s adoption of Resolution 321 commemorating 30 years of Vietnam–US diplomatic relations, which he co-introduced, last month.

Daines said the US values the friendship with Vietnam and hopes to further promote their partnership in the years to come.
