(VOVWORLD) - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has been licensed to operate 12 flights repatriating Vietnamese citizens from the US this year.

The first flight will leave Hanoi on June 22 for Washington D.C. with a stop in Alaska before returning to Vietnam 2 days later. Vietnam Airlines is currently the only airline in Vietnam licensed by the US Transportation Security Administration to fly to the US.
Wide-body aircraft like Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 will be used for the flights, and strict anti-COVID-19 measures will be applied to ensure health safety.
Last year, Vietnam Airlines conducted 20 flights between Vietnam and the US.
