Vietnam, Australia sign three-year peacekeeping implementation plan
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Australia have signed a plan to implement their bilateral Peacekeeping Partnership Arrangement from now until 2027.

The plan was inked in Australia on Monday by Pham Manh Thang, Director General of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, and Bernard Philip, First Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Policy.
Under the agreement, the two sides will focus on intensive training programs, delegation exchanges, female military participation promotion, and joint forces training for UN peacekeeping missions.
During talks ahead of the signing, both sides exchanged updates on their respective peacekeeping efforts and reaffirmed their commitment to mutual support within multilateral frameworks.

Major General Thang emphasized Vietnam’s peacekeeping orientation, noting the importance of the recently passed Law on Participation in UN Peacekeeping Operations as a key legal foundation for deeper international cooperation.
First Assistant Secretary Philip praised Vietnam’s growing contributions to UN missions and expressed confidence in the expanding bilateral partnership. Both sides also agreed to advance the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda and accelerate the recognition of Vietnam’s peacekeeping training programs as meeting UN standards.
