Vietnam, Ecuador seek to advance relationship

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño Aroca in Hanoi on Monday. He said Vietnam attaches importance to cementing cooperative ties with Ecuador for mutual development. Dung said the Vietnamese government supports all agreements  reached during Aroca’s ongoing visit. He suggested that both countries increase the exchange of visits, support each other’s stance at international forums and boost cooperation in economics, trade and tourism. The Prime Minister expressed his hope that Ecuador will support Vietnamese businesses who are investing in Ecuador.

Earlier on the same day at a reception given by his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh in Hanoi, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño Aroca pledged to create more favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to penetrate Ecuador, especially in the fields of telecommunications, and oil and gas exploitation. The two sides exchanged notes on regional and international issues of mutual concern and voiced support for each other in international and multilateral forums, such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the Forum for East Asia and Latin American Cooperation (FEALAC). After their talks, the two Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on mechanisms for economic cooperation in the Pacific rim.
