(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held talks with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia on Friday, as part of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to the Republic of Estonia.

During the meeting, Mr. Son affirmed Vietnam's desire to strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Estonia, particularly in e-government, digital transformation, the development of data centers, and the application of information technology in state governance and socio-economic development.
Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna expressed Estonia’s strong interest in deepening ties with Vietnam, especially in trade, investment, and digital transformation. He also pledged to advocate for the swift ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) between Vietnam and the remaining EU member states.
The two ministers agreed to promote the exchange of delegations at all levels, establish a political consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries, and enhance policy dialogue and cooperation in information technology, aiming toward the development of modern digital diplomacy.
On maritime issues, both sides agreed to maintain consultations at multilateral forums, particularly within the United Nations framework, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and the world. They reaffirmed their support for the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
