The decision to delay the function came following a range of social distancing measures being enforced in many cities and provinces nationwide amid the country’s ongoing COVID-19 fight.

The event had originally been scheduled to take place from September 12 to September 16.

According to the new schedule, this year’s festival will therefore get underway between November 19 and November 22 in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

The festival will feature the best local movies which have been released over the past two years.

Furthermore, a broad array of activities are set to be held during the course of the occasion, including a film week in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City, an exchange between artists and audiences, along with a photo exhibition showcasing the Vietnamese cinema industry.

The biennial festival aims to honour outstanding local cinematographic works and artists for their contributions to the development of Vietnamese movies.

The 22nd version of the event is being jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with the administration of Thua Thien-Hue province.
