Deputy Minister Chien affirms Vietnam’s unwavering foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, and diversification. Vietnam is ready to cooperate with other countries and international organizations for peace, cooperation and development and pursues resolving all disputes and disagreements by peaceful means on the basis of international law, he said.

Chien emphasized that since the previous dialogue, Vietnam-Japan defense cooperation has been fruitful in the exchange of delegations; education-training; maintenance of dialogue, consultation and exchange mechanisms; and defense industry.

Both have worked together in UN peace keeping and overcoming the consequences of war; military medicine and rescue; and coordinate and participate in multilateral activities organized by each country's Ministry of Defense, as well as support each other at international multilateral forums.

Japanese Deputy Minister Kano underlined the importance of defense cooperation between the two countries in particular. Sharing his views on the global and regional situation, Kano emphasized respect for the rule of law and joining hands to build an environment of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

The Deputy Minister applauded Vietnam's role in promoting peace and cooperation in the region and the world and said he is pleased with the thriving bilateral defense cooperation.

The two sides assessed that defense relations have recorded practical achievements and still have ample room for development in the near future. They agreed to continue deepening Vietnam-Japan defense ties.
