(VOVWORLD) -Defence Minister Phan Van Giang held talks with his Lao counterpart Khamliang Outhakaysone on Wednesday during the latter's official visit to Vietnam and attendance at the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024.

During talks after the welcoming ceremony, the two Ministers acknowledged that Vietnam-Laos defense cooperation, particularly the implementation of the protocol on defense cooperation for the 2020–2024 period, has yielded significant and substantive outcomes in recent years.
They committed to the comprehensive and effective implementation of the protocol on defense cooperation for the 2025–2029 period and the 2025 cooperation plan.
The two Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in military law and defense.
