Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Son welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia and expressed Vietnam’s hope that both sides would exercise restraint, avoid the use of force, and resolve differences peacefully in line with international law, the UN Charter, the ASEAN Charter, and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).

He said Vietnam stands ready to play an active role in helping both countries implement the ceasefire and cooperate in a spirit of ASEAN solidarity and friendship, for the long-term benefit of the region.

The two ministers agreed to jointly explore new avenues for tourism cooperation, including ASEAN regional connectivity initiatives, emphasized the importance of strengthening local-level partnerships, boosting people-to-people exchanges, and enhancing the role of the Thai-Vietnamese community in deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.

They agreed to work closely to raise bilateral trade to 25 billion USD in a more balanced and sustainable manner
