Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Defense Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh

(VOVworld) – The first Vietnam-Russia Deputy Minister-level strategic defense dialogue took place in Moscow on Thursday.

The two delegations were headed by Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Defense Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov.

Both nations agreed on an analysis of the Asia Pacific situation and issues related to their interests and relations. Both underscored the need to improve defense cooperation mechanisms, build strategic trust, and step up diplomatic activities and measures to prevent regional conflicts.

The two deputy ministers also agreed on promoting future delegation exchanges, and navy and military technology cooperation. A second defense dialogue is scheduled to take place in Hanoi next year.
