Vietnam, Russia ramp up cooperation in rescue and relief operations

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Thursday that Vietnam values the Russian Ministry of  Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief’s support in training highly qualified experts and instructors in the field of fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue and relief.

During a meeting with the Minister Aleksandr Kurenkov in Hanoi, the Prime Minister proposed that the two sides strengthen cooperation and share experiences in warning, preventing, and responding to emergencies.

He expressed his hope that Russia would accelerate technology transfer, establish joint production of technical equipment and vehicles, organize joint exercises, and continue to support Vietnam in training and educating personnel in this field.

Mr. Kurenkov said cooperation between the Russian ministry and law enforcement agencies and Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security remains an important pillar of the Vietnam–Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. He pledged strengthened cooperation with Vietnamese agencies, especially in the areas and contents mentioned by the Prime Minister.
