Vietnam strongly committed to UN’s humanitarian relief efforts
(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet has renewed Vietnam's strong commitment to humanitarian relief to help disaster-hit communities. He was speaking at a high-level event on contributions to the Central Emergency Support Fund (CERF) in 2025 held in New York on Wednesday.

In addition to its annual contributions to CERF, Vietnam has provided over 500,000 USD through CERF to support people in Ukraine and Syria, 500,000 USD for Palestinians via the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and over 2 million USD in bilateral aid to countries affected by natural disasters, Mr. Viet said. Vietnam also deployed rescue and relief teams to Turkey for the first time after the historic earthquake in 2023.
The Deputy Minister praised CERF's crucial role in supporting countries’ response to humanitarian crises. He cited the 2 million USD emergency aid to help Vietnam address the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi in September, emphasizing it is just one example of the growing global demand for humanitarian assistance as a result of conflicts, wars, natural disasters, and climate change.
The Vietnamese diplomat urged countries and donor partners to respond to the UN Secretary-General’s call to help CERF mobilize sufficient resources to meet global humanitarian needs.
