Vietnam, Thailand strengthen defense ties

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense fully supports the deepening of defense cooperation between the armed forces of Vietnam and Thailand, said Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang at a meeting in Hanoi on Saturday with General Songwit Noonpackdee, Chief of Defense Forces of Thailand.

General Phan Van Giang expressed his desire to further enhance bilateral defense ties, contributing practically to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand. He proposed that the two militaries strengthen mutual understanding and trust, with a focus on strategic consultations and exchanges of delegations at all levels.

General Songwit Noonpackdee highly valued the strong defense cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam in recent years, emphasizing that defense cooperation remains a key pillar of the Thailand–Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

He expressed confidence that Vietnam’s ongoing historic reform of the two-tier local government model would pave the way for even greater national achievements in the future.

On Friday, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense General Nguyen Tan Cuong met with General Songwit Noonpackdee, where the two sides pledged to further enhance bilateral defense cooperation.
