Vietnam urges for child protection in armed conflict amid COVID-19 pandemic

(VOVWORLD) - Countries involved in armed conflicts are fully responsible for ending and preventing grave violations against children, said Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nation.

Ambassador Quy made the remarks at Friday’s Arria-formula meeting of several UN agencies and non-governmental organizations on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on grave violations against children affected by armed conflict.

Ambassador Quy urged countries involved in armed conflicts to ensure necessities for children and abide by humanitarian laws and international human rights. He called for an immediate end to any attack targeting schools while asking for enhanced international cooperation to implement and supervise activities on protecting children affected by armed conflict at national, regional, and international levels.
