Vietnam vows to combat illegal fishing
(VOVWORLD) - A press conference was held on Wednesday by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium to discuss Vietnam’s measures to fight illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Thi Trang Nhung, Deputy Director of the Scientific, Technological, and Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said Vietnam adopted the Law on Fisheries last year to improve fisheries management. The law will take effect in January 1st next year.
VASEP representative Le Hang said the Association keeps the list of seafood enterprises committed to stopping IUU fishing updated in English and Vietnamese on its website thus showing Vietnamese firms' consensus and determination to EU importers and management agencies.
