"I wanted to come here to learn, because I know that the Vietnamese women's team has become a powerful team, qualifying for the World Cup", Longman added.

"Looking back, they can be proud that they didn't play against normal teams, but were squarely pitted against World Cup-class teams like the US and the Netherlands. It is a launching pad for the growth of Vietnamese women's football. These results will convince leaders and sports managers to invest more in the Vietnamese women's team to aim higher, not just participating in the World Cup playground", Longman said.

At the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 Vietnam and the US will compete in the group E, alongside the Netherlands and Portugal. Vietnam will face the US on July 22 at Eden Park Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand.
