Vietnamese culture day sparks in Seoul

(VOVworld) - Vietnamese traditions and colors filled Seoul at the first Vietnam Culture Day jointly held by the Vietnamese-South Korean Culture Centre on Sunday. Thousands of Vietnamese and Korean nationals joined the event at Seoul’s Dong-jak district’s communal house to immerse themselves in Vietnamese cuisine and a traditional music competition.
This is part of many activities to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of Vietnam-South Korea diplomatic ties, through which contributing to strengthen connection among the Vietnamese expat communities in the ROK.
Vietnamese women in ao dai (long dresses) and others who married into Korean families wearing its equivalent, a Hanbok, symbolized a cultural harmony between the two nations. Festival goers also took part into competitions on Vietnamese culture, lucky draw and charity activities.
Speaking at the event, Luu Thi My Ha, director of the Vietnamese-South Korean Culture Centre noted that the centre has organized a number of Vietnamese art performances at international cultural festivals in ROK after 3 years of operation. She also highlighted the importance of the cultural day in promoting Vietnam and generating mutual understanding between the two peoples.
