Vietnamese president visits Russia to deepen bilateral ties

 President Truong Tan Sang arrived in Moscow today/ on Thursday to pay a five-day official visit to Russia at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

The visit, the first by Sang in his position, is expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. During the visit, a number of business forums will be held and several cooperation agreements signed in the fields of agriculture, customs, culture-tourism, science-technology and economics. President Sang will meet with President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, and other senior Russian leaders. Vietnam and Russia officially established diplomatic ties in 1950. The two countries signed a joint declaration on a Vietnam-Russia strategic partnership in March 2001.
