Vietnamese Prime Minister attends UN’s high level meeting

(VOVworld) -  Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Paris, France for the US to attend the high-level meeting of the 68th UN General Assembly in New York from September 26 to 28. Vietnam’s participation aims to further develop the country’s international integration, raise its status, and consolidate its relations with UN agencies.

Under the theme “The Post 2015 Development Agenda: Setting the Stage”, the meeting of the 68th UN General Assembly will review mid-term implementation of the Millennium Development Goals and further push the “Post 2015 Development Agenda: Setting the Stage”.

Delegates will focus on measures to peacefully resolve disputes, conflicts, and instability, including the Syrian issue, to boost gender equality, reduce poverty and pursue resilient development, and reform and promote the UN’s role in dealing with global challenges.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Prime Minister Dung will meet with leaders from the World Bank (WB) to reinforce bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of poverty reduction and socio-economic development in Vietnam.
