Speaking at a ceremony on Tuesday to mark World Tuberculosis Day, Dr. Luong said TB is entirely curable if caught early and treated with the correct protocol. He said patients can recover within 6 to 12 months without lasting complications.
He suggested that TB prevention shift toward a proactive model involving the priority of early detection, linking screenings to routine health exams, and strengthening and improving the network of specialized lung hospitals across all provinces.

Aligning with the global 2026 slogan for World Tuberculosis Day, "Yes! We Can End TB! Led by Countries! Powered by People!", Vietnam has localized its mission with the theme: "Integrating TB screening into routine and annual health check-ups for every citizen".
This theme underscores Vietnam’s commitment to early detection through the regular healthcare system, thus slashing community transmission rates and boosting treatment outcomes.
