(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam have highlighted the role of young people of Vietnam and China as "young cultural ambassadors" in fostering friendship and strengthening ties between the two countries.

Speaking at the get-together of Vietnamese and Chinese alumni on Thursday in Hanoi, the Party leader said: “The leaders of both countries have always placed special emphasis on the younger generation, expecting them to continue the tradition of friendship and bring vitality and a promising future to Vietnam-China relations."
"The bond between the peoples of the two nations has been nurtured and sustained through the young people. Young people of the two countries need to deepen their understanding of the profound historical foundation and strategic significance of Vietnam-China relations and to take responsibility to elevate the bilateral ties to new heights,” said the Party leader.
The Party leader offered several suggestions for the youth of both countries, emphasizing the importance of fostering meaningful and effective exchange and cooperation programs, particularly during the "Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange Year 2025."

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the stable, sustainable, and long-term development of relations between the two Parties and the two countries is a shared aspiration and a fundamental interest of both nations, aligning with the broader trends of the era.
He reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent policy and commitment to working closely with the Chinese Party and State to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and build a Vietnam-China community with a shared future of strategic significance.
During the event, the delegates shared their memories about studying and working in Vietnam and China.
Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xia Wei said: “These heartfelt stories are the source of inspiration for the peoples of both countries to write a new chapter in Vietnam-China relations. The presence of Party General Secretary To Lam at today’s gathering, held at the Vietnam-China Friendship Palace, delivers a clear message of enduring friendship, no matter how external circumstances change, the bond between the two countries remains steadfast.”

Around 800 Vietnamese and Chinese delegates attended the event jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to mark the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations (1950-2025) and the Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange.
Earlier the same day, Party General Secretary To Lam, along with leaders former leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State, and the Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam visited a photo exhibition showcasing 75 years of Vietnam-China relations and attended a tree-planting ceremony symbolizing trust and responsibility entrusted to the younger generations of both nations.
