(VOVWORLD) - 400 films and movies from 68 countries and territories joined the 6th Hanoi International Film Festival, Haniff, from November 8-12. With the theme "Cinema - Humanity, Adaptation and Development", the festival honors excellent international and Vietnamese cinematographic works with artistic value, imbued with humanity, and creativity in cinematic language.

During the Film Festival, 191 films out of 400 films sent to the festival are being screened in cinemas across Hanoi such as the National Cinema Center, BHD Cineplex, CJ CGV, Galaxy, and the open space in front the Monument to Martyrs at Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street.
12 Vietnamese films have been selected to screen at outdoor stages including "Hội An-Trầm mặc phố" (Hoi An-Tranquil Street, "Đình làng Bắc bộ" (Tonkin village communal house), "Quả bóng bay" (A balloon), "Bí mật của khu vườn" (Secret of the garden), "Sương mù" (Frost), "Hành trình thư pháp Việt" (Vietnamese calligraphy journey), "Maika-Cô bé đến từ hành tinh khác" (Maika-The girl from another planet).
Thanh Thao, a viewer from Dong Da district, said: “I came here for three movie nights. Vietnamese filmmakers are more professional and creative. The films have been directed professionally with deep meaning. The festival is an opportunity to introduce Vietnamese cinematography to the world and learn from the film industry of other countries.”

The 6th Haniff takes place as Vietnam’s cinema and other art industries are recovering after more than 2 years of COVID-19.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong, said: “The 6th Haniff is a big film festival for ASEAN. The Vietnamese film market is one of the fastest growing markets according to film experts of the US and China. Vietnamese cinema has recovered strongly after COVID-19.”
In the category of long movies, the organizing board selected 11 movies from 11 countries, including India, Poland, Iran, France, Brazil, Spain, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Kazakhstan, and Philippines. Each film deals with a different theme, showing the cultural and human values of each country.
Director Nguyen Hoang Lam, a member of the jury, said: “A number of global events have been mentioned in the films from different angles. I believe that the audience will gain new knowledge and a new sense of life.”
The host country Vietnam presented the film "Jasmine" by Director, People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh at the Festival. "Jasmine" is about Hanoi people's life using simple and subtle cinematic language.
Vi Kien Thanh, Director of the Cinema Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “This year there is an award from the Hanoi People's Committee for a film about Hanoi and an award for young directors from 18-35 years old.”
Within the framework of the Film Festival, Hanoians and tourists had the opportunity to visit a number of film studios at Hanoi's monuments and cultural heritage sites.
