(VOVWORLD) - With Christmas 2025 just days away, the festive mood has already filled the streets across Vietnam. In Hanoi, shoppers are choosing gifts that feel new and different. Vietnamese pine trees or Cupressus macrocarpa are especially popular among young people, for both decorating homes and giving as gifts. The small potted trees, priced from 4 USD, are favored for their pleasant scent and simple, stylish look. Many families now use them instead of traditional decorations, while office workers see them as a thoughtful year-end gift.
Quach Thi Thu, a resident of Thanh Xuan ward, said that these pine trees look nice and have gentle scent, and they’re the perfect size for a desk at Christmas. "I bought a few to give to friends and colleagues. They’re affordable, easy to care for, and make a great Christmas gift.”

Bells, tinsel, snowmen and mini Santa figures are easy to find. Most items are affordable, costing between 50 cents and 2 USD for Santa costumes and accessories.
Bigger decorations like wreaths, door hangings, LED lights and artificial Christmas trees are also popular. Prices vary from 2.5 to 50 USD. According to Doan Thi Ngoc, a shop owner in Hanoi, demand has been steady since early December. Customers are looking for more refined designs, with soft, Nordic-style colors, she said, adding that, "there’s also a wider range of products, so we’ve had to restock regularly.”
Nguyen Tuan Duong, a shop owner on Hang Ma street, said that this year, people decorate their Christmas trees with different kinds of lights and fewer ornaments than before. "The overall style is simpler.”
Despite the recent historic flood, the Christmas atmosphere still prevails in Hue. This year’s market offers more choices, with lower prices for shoppers. Ngo Thi Lan Anh, a local shop owner, said that prices are much better this year. "Besides the usual decorations, customers are fond of more stylish, better-looking designs,” she added.
